Brand Strategist

A Brand Strategist at Tiller contributes to our clients’ success by developing their brand stories and strategies, with the goal of improving a brand’s positioning, enhancing their brand’s visibility, and ultimately driving customer growth and revenue. In this role, you will conduct rigorous analysis and market research to understand the competitive landscape and customer behaviour, and then use that information to develop and clarify a brand. You will also plan and host workshops with our clients as a means of drawing out their perspectives and knowledge to further inform the brand.

What you get to do:

  • Interpret project briefs to understand project and client requirements
  • Develop effective brand stories and strategies (short & long-term) by combining analytical (specific data) and creative elements in a way that will grow a clients market share
  • Gather and assess a wide array of data, ranging from customer feedback to surveys and interviews measuring brand recognition and engagement
  • Leverage this data to discover trends and insights that can be used to develop a successful strategy
  • Prepare for and facilitate brand workshops for our clients (both in-person and virtually)
  • Deliver ideas and concepts that set the client apart from competitors, creating a strong position for market growth and brand recognition
  • Present your findings, concepts, and progress to clients – pushing clients towards fresh, exciting ideas
  • Prepare brand strategy documents that clearly define the brand and the parameters around its use
  • Develop a client’s brand voice and brand story at the foundational level, but then see it through to execution by either briefing other Copywriters and/or writing the copy yourself
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling copy for various mediums (e.g. websites, blog posts, newsletters, ads, social media, etc.) with the client’s brand voice
  • Work closely with our Creative Team and our clients to fine-tune messaging and voice throughout the process
  • Collaborate with the rest of our Creative Team to successfully translate a brand’s strategy and story into a client’s website and other marketing campaigns
  • Review and provide feedback on work done by our Creative Team to ensure that what is produced adheres to client guidelines and are in line with the current brand strategy

You may be fit for this role if you:

  • Have 10+ years experience as a Brand Strategist or related role
  • Have a BSc/BA in marketing, English, journalism or related field
  • Are passionate about helping companies achieve their objectives
  • Have clear strategic strength, allowing you to chart a path forward that will achieve the desired outcomes
  • Are highly creative and imaginative, and curious about clients’ products and services
  • Excel at relationship building, have a high degree of emotional intelligence and empathy, can anticipate needs, and quickly build chemistry and trust
  • Ask smart questions and are a great listener (listening to what is said and left unsaid)
  • Have strong research, data analysis, and interviewing skills
  • Have excellent writing skills, all done in the brand voice of our customers
  • Have a collaborative spirit and work well in a team and with a range of creative people
  • Are able to see other people’s points of view and take feedback
  • Are highly self-motivated, well organized, and have an eye for detail
  • Are able to work under pressure and manage workloads effectively
  • Have the ability to handle multiple planned and unplanned projects and responsibilities
  • Work well within strict budgets
  • Thrive working in a fast-paced agency environment
